Among the many wonderful compositions by Silvius L. Weiss, the famous Logy-Tombeau stands out. Johann Graf Losy (Logy) (ca. 1645-1721) was an imperial official, composer and one of the most famous lutenists of his generation. In memory of Logy, Weiss created this funeral piece, which in its importance can be placed on a par with the famous tombeau compositions by Froberger, Louis Couperin or Marin Marais and Saint Colombe. Weiss's musical language hits the listener right in the heart. Tilman Hoppstock's transcription shows (not only in the repeated sections) completely new ideas that make the piece seem even more impressive. With detailed explanations in German and English and fingerings by the arranger.
