New Karl Scheit guitar edition, edited by Johannes Monno, Olaf van Gonnissen and Thomas Müller Peringr Mozart edited Sor for his present composition themes from his opera The Magic Flute. In doing so, he skillfully translates his idea of comparing the timbres of a guitar with those of an orchestra in the successful and harmonious introduction, which unfolds into an orchestral overture. In the variations, Sor impressively expands the technical capabilities of the instrument at that time by noting clever-sounding arpeggio and legato effects. The finely crafted minor variation shows Sor's sovereign skill in dealing with harmony and counterpoint. The composition is rounded off by a brilliant finale, which requires the interpreter to play everything technically. - Contents: Introduction, Andante Largo, Theme, Andante Moderato, Variation I · Variation II · Variation III, Variation IV, Più mosso · Variation V, Più mosso
